JSC NC “KazMunaiGas” and the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation held bilateral negotiations in the framework of the implementation of the agreement signed earlier by the heads of the two states.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on a prospective increase in the export of Kazakh gas to China to 10 billion cubic meters per year. The parties noted the need for further development of the gas transportation infrastructure, modernization and expansion of the capacity of existing gas pipelines.

The Chinese corporation highly appreciated the implementation of the previously adopted agreement on the supply of Kazakh gas. It was also decided to step-by-step increase the capacity of two “A” and “B” lines of MG “Kazakhstan-China” by the end of 2019.

To expand transportation through Kazakhstan territory, there are plans to increase the capacity of MG Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent by building new compressor stations and modernizing existing ones.

Sharipbaev, Vice-President of JSC NC “KazMunaiGas”, noted the strategic importance of deliveries of Kazakhstani gas to the People’s Republic of China and assured in readiness of Kazakhstan’s gas transportation system to expand gas transportation and export: “Export of Kazakhstan gas to China became possible due to the agreements of the heads of our states and realization of two similar state programs of Kazakhstan and China – “Nurly Zhol” and “One Belt – One Way”, which contribute to the development and implementation of joint projects.”

The Chinese side highly appreciated the organization of supply of Kazakh gas to China and the level of partnership since Kazakhstan’s domestic gas began to flow into China. This long-awaited event took place on October 15, 2017.

Deliveries of natural gas from the Central Asian states to China through the Central Asia-China gas pipeline increased by 13.4% in the end of 2017 to 38.7 billion cubic meters. Since the beginning of the introduction of the transnational gas pipeline in late 2009, a total of 203.2 billion cubic meters of gas was transported to China.
