Beineu-Shymkent main gas pipeline is a major socially significant infrastructure project of Kazakhstan and it catches attention of all segments of the country’s society.

The main reserves of the Kazakhstan’s natural gas are concentrated in the northwestern regions of the country, whereas the gas consumption is primarily concentrated in the densely populated and economically developed southern regions. Before the gas pipeline’s construction, the existing domestic gas transportation network could not provide for efficient gas transportation from the west to the south. After commissioning of Beineu-Shymkent gas pipeline, all of the country’s main gas pipelines were connected into a unified system running from the west to the southeast. It allowed for establishing the comprehensive national gas transportation network and ensuring the natural gas supply from the northwestern regions of Kazakhstan to the four southern regions of the country. This radically changed the situation when the southern regions of Kazakhstan depended on imported gas. This powerful stream of the clean energy covers more than 50% of the country’s population, benefiting more than 10 million residents. It also serves as a “warm energy artery,” ensuring the well-being of the population.

On cold winter days, Beineu-Shymkent gas pipeline provides reliable heat for millions of families allowing them to cook and heat their homes without worries. It ensures stable functioning of more than 300 educational institutions, in the educational sector creating conditions for the students learning and development. In the medical sector, it provides for stable operation of the equipment in more than 200 hospitals and clinics, supporting the health care system. In the public sector, it provides reliable power supply for more than 100 government institutions, contributing to the public services efficiency.

Beineu-Shymkent main gas pipeline smoothly integrates the care for the people’s well-being into urban development by ensuring stable and reliable energy supplies. Therefore, it truly becomes the project aimed at the well-being of the population and vividly demonstrates the social orientation of the national strategic projects.
