Gas industry of Kazakhstan is recognized as the best in post-soviet countries.
The Russian business publication Neftegaz.RU placed on their web site the analytical article, where a comparative analysis of gas transportation systems of former Soviet Union countries is specified. The specialists came up with opinion, that the most successful dynamics of development of gas industry is observed in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As noted in the publication, major gas fields were opened at the immense territory of the entire former Soviet Union. Active construction of gas pipelines and related process infrastructure began. This resulted in situation that the hydrocarbons-rich countries started to become overgrown with main gas pipelines (MGP) and underground gas storages (UGS), where the leading technologies and equipment as of the moment of construction were applied. But, after USSR breakup, the former soviet republics had to develop the gas transportation systems (GTS) by themselves.
Herewith, it is pointed out in the article, that not all countries are successful in this sphere. There are a variety of reasons – internal problems, lack of financing, extremely high competition at external markets, lack of export-oriented infrastructure.
The experts evaluated the potential of gas transportation systems of such states, as Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine and Moldova. Having compared GTS, the specialists took into consideration the extent of wear of the gas pipelines, the performed modernization and own implemented projects in gas sphere.
According to the opinion of the Russia analysts, there is a stability and positive dynamics for a long period of time only in Kazakhstan. Here gas industry underwent complete upgrading and the most number of gas projects has been implemented, fixed assets of the industry have been completely renovated, all gas pipelines have been combined in uniform gas transportation system. KazTransGas state company controls 55 thousand gas pipelines, 19 thous.km of which are – main gas pipelines. At that, increase of their length by 1/3 occurred for the last 5-6 years – which in itself is a great achievement. GTS of the country is in perfect condition and able to let through up to 85 bln.m3/year of gas, with perspective of increase of flow volume up to 120 bln.m3 /year and continues to develop dynamically. Due to construction of Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent MGP, Kazakhstan succeeded in solution of 3 important tasks – to ensure stable gas supplies to the south, to create an uniform system of gas transportation and increase an export.
Thus, KazTransGas, according to the experts’ evaluation, became the most important and technologically the most powerful operator of gas flows in Central Asia. It is being noted in the article, that today it is – the most growth gas company of CIS.
