25 SIGNIFICANT EVENTS OF THE GAS INDUSTRY IN 25 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE OF KAZAKHSTAN.

For a quarter of a century, the domestic gas industry has moved to a completely new stage of its development. Today, the national gas operator KazTransGas JSC is a modern company equipped with the most high – tech equipment designed to increase the gas transportation potential for many years to come.

Like other sectors of the economy, gas sector, over the years of Kazakhstan’s sovereignty, has passed very difficult stages of formation. Moreover, it is in the last few years that the most serious rise of the company, the implementation of the most powerful domestic and international projects in KazTransGas JSC can be observed.

We present to you the 25 most important events of the domestic gas industry, which took place over 25 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

1. In 1993-the national gas company “KAZAKHGAS ” was established.
2. In 1997, the country’s gas transportation system was transferred to a foreign investor – the Belgian company Traktebel S.A.
3. In 2000, by the government resolution, the entire gas transportation system of the country was transferred to the structure of KazTransGas JSC.

   

4. In 1993-the national gas company “KAZAKHGAS ” was established.

   

5. In 2003, KazTransGas entered into a long-term contract with Gazprom on the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas through the territory of Kazakhstan.

   

6. In 2008, in the Mangystau region, a turbocharger shop was put into operation at the compressor station “Support” of the main gas pipeline “Central Asia – Center”.
7. In 2009, the long-term investment program under the formula “tariffs in exchange for investments” was launched in the regions of the country, which was the beginning of a large-scale project to modernize and expand the gas transportation and gas supply systems of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

   

8. In 2009, the first line (line “A”) of the main gas pipeline “Kazakhstan–China”was launched. The solemn act took place on December 12, 2009 with the participation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao.
9. In 2012 by the resolution of the government of Kazakhstan KazTransGas JSC is defined as the National operator in the field of gas and gas supply.
10. In 2013, KazTransGas JSC concluded an agreement with all world companies working in the field of oil production in Kazakhstan for the exclusive sale of all gas produced in the country.

    

11. In 2013, with the participation of the Head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of China XI Jinping hosted an official ceremony of the beginning of the filling gas of the main gas pipeline “Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent”.

    

12. In 2013, KazTransGas Aimak, a subsidiary of the national operator, completed the stage of combining gas distribution networks in all regions of the country, becoming a single operator in the market of gas supplies to end consumers.
13. In 2014, the General scheme of gasification of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2015 – 2030 and the Concept of development of the gas sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030 were approved.

    

14. In 2015, the third line (line “C”) of the main gas pipeline “Kazakhstan-China” with the length of 1303 km was put into operation. This event was the final stage in the implementation of the largest international project in the field of energy and regional partnership-the cross-border gas pipeline “Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China”, with a total length of more than 7.5 thousand km.
15. During the years of independence, the Republic of Kazakhstan has increased the level of gas production by more than five and a half times, from 7.9 billion cubic meters in 1991 to 45.3 billion cubic meters in 2015.

    

16. In 2015, the National operator received the first inflow of coalbed methane in the Karaganda region of industrial importance.
17. In order to diversify the gas transportation routes, a bridge between the main gas pipelines Soyuz and Luping SATS-4 was put into operation, thereby ensuring the technical possibility of gas transportation in the reverse mode through the Luping – SATS main gas pipeline.

    

18. The project “Gasification of Almaty and suburban area”has been completed. The total investment amounted to more than 17 billion tenge.
19. In 2015, the construction of the Beineu–Bozoy line section of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline was completed. For the first time, all the main gas pipelines of the country are connected to a single gas transportation system.

    

20. In 2015, 2.2 thousand km of distribution gas pipelines were laid, 1.6 thousand km of main gas pipelines were put into operation. Now, in General, KazTransGas serves 54 thousand kilometers of gas pipelines. This means that our pipes can be 1.5 times around the globe at the equator.
21. All projects in 2015 were completed ahead of schedule by an average of 4 months. KazTransGas managed to save about $ 500 million. It was possible to reduce debt obligations for the group of companies by three times, from $ 1 billion to $ 300 million.
22. In 2015, domestic gas exports increased by 45% (from 1.8 billion cubic meters in 2014 to 2.6 billion in 2015). In 2015, the domestic market was subsidized in the amount of 126 billion tenge at the expense of own funds of KazTransGas.

    

23. In 2016, Kazakhstan reached 100% supply of its own gas to the South of the country, thus ensuring the country’s energy independence.

    

24. In 2016, at the expense of KazTransGas own funds, a booster compressor station “Akyrtobe” was built, which opened the way to domestic gas for export to China, the construction of AGRs 300 Aktyubinsk, which has no analogues in Central Asia, and the most modern compressor stations No. 4 and No. 8 of the main gas pipeline “Kazakhstan-China”were put into operation.

    

25. In 2016, wells No. 129, No. 131 of the Amangeldy field and well No. 8 of the Zharkum field were put into operation. A strategically important Compressor station “Bozoy” was commissioned, which will expand the export opportunities of Kazakhstan.
