KazTransGas expands export potential.

PRESS RELEASE

Zhambyl oblast

November 29, 2016

For the first time in history of gas transport system of the Republic of Kazakhstan the KazTransGas JSC national operator had constructed a booster compressor station with possibility to pump gas in volume of 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year from one gas pipeline to another with different design pressure for diversification of gas transport flows.

1

The Akyrtobe Booster Compressor Station was constructed in Zhambyl oblast at the bridge pipe TIP-02 between the Bukhara gas-bearing area – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty Main Gas Pipeline (pressure 55 kgf/cm2) and the Kazakhstan-China Main Gas Pipeline (pressure 100 kgf/cm2). Commissioning of the facility is coincided with the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, construction of the booster compressor station was completed in tight schedule at own expenses of the KazTransGas JSC.

2

There is a possibility of economically effective transportation of domestic nature gas volumes beyond the borders of Kazakhstan from western fields as soon station is commissioned. The fields, such as Tengiz, Karachaganak, Zhanazhol and Kashagan will become recourse base for exported gas.

3

Operation of the new station will provide backup route for uninterrupted gas supply for consumers in Almaty and Almaty oblast and avoid thereby the Republic of Kyrgystan territory where a section of the gas pipeline passes. The booster compressor station capacity is calculated for annual average gas pumping in the volume of  4.7 billion cubic meters. Auxiliary equipment of workshop, piping and r utility networks are designed taking into account possibility of re-equipment with gas compressor unit that will allow increasing of pumping volume to 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

4

Mr. K. N. Kokrekbayev, Akim of Zhambyl oblast noticed: Construction of compressor station is multi-billion investments to our oblast, to new jobs. The KazTransGas commissioned the facility earlier than the scheduled term and for that I would like to thank all gas workers.

5

In his speech on official ceremony dedicated to the facility commissioning Mr. Dair Kusherov, Deputy General Director of the KazTransGas JSC pointed out: Booster compressor station is a strategically important facility for whole system of the main gas pipelines of the country. Commissioning of the booster compressor station will solve a few issues at once. Firstly, we opened the way for domestic gas to China, i.e. we expanded export and transport capacities. Secondly, we provided Almaty and Almaty oblast with uninterrupted gas supply that means ecology for the large megapolis  and development of business. Thirdly, operation of the new station will provide backup route for uninterrupted gas supply for consumers in Almaty and Almaty oblast and avoid thereby the gas pipeline section at the territory of the Republic of Kyrgystan. It is also shall be noted that new stations will create additional jobs. Residents of the nearest villages will be employed.  It is important to notice that one of the main objectives of the KazTransGas is increase of capacity of domestic gas transport system. These are the objectives, which were formulated by Head of the State. And now by the 25th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan the gas workers make their contribution to strengthening of independence of the country and provision of its energy safety.

6

As Mr.Alexander Fedorovich Director of the Zhambyl branch of the Veteran Council of Gas Industry LLC considers, domestic gas facility comes to the new level of development. The entire activity of the KazTransGas today, shows how fast Kazakhstan gas industry develops remarked Alexander Fedorovich, Construction of such modern facilities as booster compressor station, will allow our country to be a leading member on the Central Asian gas-transport market. And the point is that it is an important contribution to the energy safety provision of the country.

7

For information: in order to provide transit of nature gas for export, transporting through the Bukhara gas-bearing area – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty Main Gas Pipeline, it is necessary to pump it into the  Kazakhstan-China main gas pipeline through the TIP-02 bridge pipe existing between these two gas pipelines. Taking into account exceeding of working pressure in the Kazakhstan-China Main Gas Pipeline (100 kgf/cm2) over the working pressure of the Bukhara gas-bearing area – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty (55 kgf/cm2), the booster compressor station was constructed at the TIP-02 bridge pipe. The following household facilities for workers were provided: canteen and dormitory for 30 persons. In order to bring the allowed pressure in the working pressure of the Bukhara gas-bearing area – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty to the design value, the capital repair of the 2d line at the section passing along the South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl oblast was conducted during 2016.
