KazTransGas JSC exported the first cubic meters of Kazakh gas to China.

National operator – KazTransGas JSC started exporting domestic gas to China. The solemn ceremony of launching Kazakhstan gas from the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent Main Gas Pipeline to the Central Asia-China transnational gas pipeline was held at the Unified Dispatch Center of the gas operator in Astana.

The ceremony was attended by Kanat Bozumbayev, Minister of Energy of the RK; Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Management Board of the KazMunayGas JSC; Kairat Sharipbayev, Vice President of the KazMunayGas NC JSC; Rustam Suleymanov, General Director of the KazTransGas JSC.

Start on export of domestic gas to China was given during the ceremony, by means of an online connection with the Akbulak Gas Metering Station, located near Shymkent. In his speech at the ceremony, Kanat Bozumbayev, Minister of Energy of the RK, thanked the gas workers for their work. Head of the Ministry of Energy said the following: Today we are witnessing a historic event. The result of the successful work of the KazMunayGas National Company and KazTransGas National Operator is conclusion of the Contract on gas supplies for export with Chinese Party. Historically, Kazakhstan gas was supplied to Europe through the Russian Federation and it is very important that now Kazakhstan have an alternative. 5 billion cubic meters of gas, which will be exported to China is only the beginning, first step. We have the technical capability and throughput capacity of gas pipelines to supply even 10 billion cubic meters; and this was the beginning of a new milestone in the development of the domestic gas industry.

As it was noted by Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Management Board of the KazMunayGas NC JSC, carried out work is the fulfillment of the tasks set by Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the RK. He said: President of the country instructed to ensure an uninterrupted, stable supply of gas to the southern regions of our country. As you can see, today this task has been successfully accomplished. Now, with the introduction of new infrastructure facilities into the gas industry, it has become possible to supply excessive gas to the People’s Republic of China.

According to Kairat Sharipbayev, Vice President on Transportation and Marketing of Gas of the KazMunayGas NC JSC, this is a great event that will give a new impulse not only to the development of the gas industry, but also to the economy of our country as a whole. K. Sharipbayev noted the following: Supplies of Kazakhstan gas to China will contribute to bilateral mutually beneficial relations, aimed at creation of general infrastructure and establishment of trade and transport relations between countries of the Eurasian region.

As previously reported, a historic Contract on supply of 5 billion cubic meters of Kazakhstan gas was signed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and People’s Republic of China.

Purchase and Sale Contract was signed between the KazTransGas JSC and PetroChina International Company Limited. Resource base will be deposits in the west of Kazakhstan, as well as available gas stocks from the underground gas storage facilities of the National operator. Place of acceptance of gas by the Chinese Party is determined by the Horgos border point. Export route of natural gas through the territory of Kazakhstan will be about 3 thousand km, more than 10 compressor stations will be involved in work. Historic Contract, opening a new era of transit and export of domestic gas, was preceded by a huge amount of work, both in terms of full technical reorganization of the country’s entire gas transportation system, and in terms of diplomatic management.

National gas operator – KazTransGas JSC implemented projects, which allowed to unite all main gas pipelines of the country into a single gas transportation system and diversify the main gas routes, for the record time. The most powerful compressor stations were commissioned – Bozoy, Karaozek and Akyrtobe, Gas Drying Unit was commissioned and Bozoy underground gas storage facility was reconstructed.

In addition, an intergovernmental agreement was signed between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of natural gas transportation and transit. According to the Contract signed in Tashkent, Kazakh gas from western fields will transported along the Uzbek gas transportation system to the south of Kazakhstan. Thus, the additional volume of gas from the Gazli-Shymkent Main Gas Pipeline will allow to ensure stable gas supplies to the southern regions of Kazakhstan in winter period. Resources of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent Main Gas Pipeline and Central Asia-China transnational gas pipeline will be used for the export supplies of Kazakh gas to China.
