Great prospects for compact production
The head of Shell in Kazakhstan Olivier Lazar got acquainted with the work of the plant for utilization and processing of associated petroleum gas coming from the Kozhasay field. The working trip was organized by KazMunayGas JSC NC
The innovative enterprise was launched at the end of last year. Despite its compactness, the capacity of the plant is 400 million cubic meters of commercial gas per year. The products of processing, which are not only purified gas, but also condensate, granular sulfur, are very popular in the domestic market and have a great potential for export. The need to create such enterprises in Kazakhstan, including deep oil and gas processing, was recently spoken to representatives of the industry by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his speech in Atyrau.
The project to build a gas processing plant was implemented by the Gas Processing Company. The work of the enterprise plays an important role in improving the ecology of the Aktobe region. Now associated gas from the field is not burned by flares, is not released into the atmosphere, and is rationally used. Only Kazakh highly qualified employees who receive salaries at the level of world standards work at the plant.
Having familiarized with all stages of work of gas processing production, the head of Shell in Kazakhstan Olivier Lazar gave it a high evaluation.
– For me, visiting this plant was very useful, I got a lot of good impressions. This is a very high level of production, processing, operation of the plant as a whole. I think that such business models have great prospects, and we are seriously considering their possibilities. I am sure that such projects have a great potential, – said Olivier Lazard.
Recall that the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin visited the gas processing plant “Kozhasay” in August this year. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers paid special attention to the technological equipment and the use of digital solutions in production. In his opinion, such innovative enterprises should be replicated throughout Kazakhstan, as they are very compact and do not require costly investments.
– The economy receives an additional resource in the form of gas, and the environment is improving, – said the Prime Minister.
It should be added that the construction of the plant “Kozhasay” was implemented exclusively at the expense of private investment. Such a project has become a pioneer in Kazakhstan, implemented within the framework of the state policy on energy and environmental security, as well as in order to fill the domestic market of the country with commercial and liquefied gas.
