KazTransGas JSC took the 2nd place in the rating of environmental and energy efficiency of the largest companies in Kazakhstan.

National operator JSC “KazTransGas” took the 2nd place in the rating of fundamental (environmental-energy) efficiency among the largest companies in Kazakhstan.

The rating is compiled from the estimates of 5733 enterprises and companies of the real sector of the economy of Russia and Kazakhstan, while our country is included in the Top 150 for the first time.

The objective assessment was the result of a constructive partnership with business within the Eurasian Economic Community organized by the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan (AEOK). The list of the largest companies includes not only parent holdings, but also their subsidiaries. The selection was carried out according to the volume of energy consumption, revenue and number of employed personnel.

The selection for the fundamental efficiency rating took into account five criteria calculated on the basis of indicators measured in natural (non-financial) units. These are energy and resource efficiency, technological or environmental efficiency, ecosystem efficiency, and efficiency dynamics – a numerical change in efficiency since 2005. Another important evaluation criterion is the transparency of reporting, which is determined by the share of indicators disclosed in the company’s reports or other available sources.

The highest place among Kazakh companies was taken by JSC “CNPC-Aktobemunaygas”, the second place in the rating was taken by JSC “KazTransGaz” (58th) and the third place was taken by LLP” Tengizchevroil” (59).

It should be noted that in July 2018, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Association of environmental organizations of Kazakhstan, Interfax-ERA Agency and the International center for “green” technologies and investment projects. The purpose of the project is to develop ratings of environmental and energy responsibility of business in Kazakhstan and environmental efficiency of the regions of Kazakhstan, as well as information campaigns to promote ratings, the relevance of environmental disclosure, as well as the preparation of analytical reports on the impact of business on the environment and search for mechanisms to improve the environment.

KazTransGas JSC is the national operator of Kazakhstan in the field of gas and gas supply. The group of companies of JSC “KazTransGas” includes mining, transporting and selling gas and products of its processing enterprises and organizations.
