The motor vehicle caravan operating on natural gas has arrived in Kazakhstan.

On September 15, 2018 the participants of the Great Steppe Energy Motor Rally arrived to the International Center of Khorgos Cross-Border Cooperation. This is the longest motor rally of vehicles operating on natural gas in the history. Its organizers were the largest energy companies of Kazakhstan, China and Russia – NC KazMunayGas JSC, CNPC and Gazprom PJSC.
In general, the length of the route is 9 881 km. Moreover, the significant part of it passes through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the new international transport corridor “Western Europe – Western China”. At the present moment, the motor caravan running through the territory of China from the south-eastern coast of Zhudun to Khorgos has passed 3,000 km. Then the route will pass through the territory of Kazakhstan and Russia through the cities of Almaty, Taraz, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Aralsk, Aktobe (Kazakhstan) and further to Russia (Orenburg, Almetyevsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Torzhok and St. Petersburg). The National Gas Operator of KazTransGas JSC will provide fueling for the Kazakhstan part of the running. The participants plan to finish the racing on October 4, 2018 in St. Petersburg within the opening of the VIII th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
Welcoming the participants of the motor vehicle caravan on Kazakhstan land, Mr. Arman Kassenov, General Director of KazTransGaz Onimderi LLP has noted the great importance of this event, which passes through the territory of our country under the motto “The Great Steppe Energy”. “It is very important for our states to establish cooperation in the development of the market for compressed and liquefied natural gas”, – said Mr. Arman Kassenov.
– And this motor vehicle caravan will show all the advantages of using gas engine fuel. Today in Kazakhstan, many city authorities are interested in the transfer of municipal motor vehicles for this type of fuel. And buses that will soon be produced in our country ride in this motor caravan».
The auto rally column consists of 17 trucks and cars and buses operating on liquefied and compressed natural gas. KazTransGas JSC within the framework of this event, sets the task to determine the locations of the perspective gas filling infrastructure on the Kazakhstan section of the transcontinental transport route “Western Europe – Western China”. In addition, the rally is aimed to show the advantages of using natural gas as a motor fuel against its traditional species.
On September 16 in Almaty, the delegations of China, Kazakhstan and Russia took part in the specially organized round table “Automotive Industry on the Way of Green Economy: Barriers and Prospects”. Specialists in the field of application of gas engine fuel, representatives of automotive industry companies have discussed the problems and prospects for the development of the market of gasoline fuel, told about measures of state support of this direction.
At the end of the round table, the resolution has been made in order to support of the popularization of the use of natural gas as an environmentally friendly and economical motor fuel. The signing of this document is planned in Aktobe, the last point on the territory of Kazakhstan, where the caravan will arrive on September 21. At the present moment, the issue of modernization of the transport sector and its transfer from diesel fuel to natural gas is seriously being studied in Kazakhstan. Прогнозируется It is forecasted a tenfold increase in the consumption of natural gas by the transport sector by 2022. Projects of the expansion of the network of automatic and cryogenic gas filling stations will be implemented for this purpose. Achieving these indicators will have a significant impact on reducing harmful emissions, increasing workplaces and tremendous savings in fuel costs.
In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the development of natural gas as a motor fuel and construction of automobile gas filling compressor stations is supervised by KazTransGaz Onimderi LLP, which is the subsidiary of KazTransGas JSC.
