Kazakhstan takes part in the longest motor rally of natural gas engine motor vehicles.

Today in Zhudong city, located in the east of the People’s Republic of China, the most longest rally of natural gas engine motor vehicles “Gas for engines” has started. The event was organized by the largest energy companies of China, Kazakhstan and Russia – CNPC, NC KazMunayGas JSC and Gazprom.

This is the largest motor rally of natural gas-engine motor vehicles in the history with the distance of 9 881 km. Notably, a significant part of it will pass through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the new international transport corridor “Western Europe – Western China”. The route will run through the territories of China, Kazakhstan and Russia through the cities of Zhudong, Suqyan, Zhengzhou, Xian, Dingxi, Wuwei, Jiayuguan, Hami, Turfan, Usu, Khorgos (China), Almaty, Taraz, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Aralsk, Aktobe Kazakhstan), Orenburg, Almetyevsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Torzhok and St. Petersburg (Russia). The national gas operator KazTransGas JSC will provide fueling at Kazakhstan part of the motor rally. Finish of the motor rally is scheduled on October 4 in Saint Petersburg (Russia) as a part of opening of VIII Petersburg International Gas Forum.

Speaking at the solemn ceremony, Rustam Suleimanov General Director of KazTransGas JSC noted that carrying out this motor rally will give a real opportunity to promote the use of natural gas as an environmentally friendly and economical engine fuel.

“At the moment, the issue on refurbishing of the transport sector is being reviewed, including transfer from diesel fuel to natural gas” – said Rustam Suleimanov. – The tenfold increase in natural gas consumption volumes by motor transport sector is forecasted by 2022. Achievement of these figures will have a significant impact in terms of reduction of harmful emissions, increase of workplaces and tremendous savings in fuel costs.”

The column of motor rally participants includes 17 trucks and buses with liquefied and compressed natural gas engines. KazTransGas JSC as a part of this event sets an objective to determine location of the advanced gas filling infrastructure in the Kazakhstan’s section of transcontinental transportation route “West Europe – West China”. Moreover, the motor rally is organized to show advantages of natural gas use as an engine fuel compared to traditional kinds of fuel.
