Safe and Healthy Working Environment - a Fundamental Right
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is held annually on April 28 within the framework of the ILO’s Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health and aimed at promoting safe, healthy, and decent working conditions.
Since 2003, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has been leading this World Day, focusing on measures to prevent accidents and injury in the workplace.
In June 2022, the International Labour Conference (ILC) decided to include “safe and healthy working environment” in the system of fundamental principles and rights at work of the ILO.
On April 28, 2023, the ILO marks this decision by gathering experts and participants to discuss the implications it has for the world of work, as well as how to practically implement this right in the world of work.
Advocacy is one of the main pillars of the Global Strategy, and the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an important tool in increasing awareness about how to improve safety and working conditions, as well as promoting the political value of occupational safety and health.
In connection with the above, we present to your attention a video message from the Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC – Nurlan Zhakupov, dedicated to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
