KazTransGas JSC will be transformed into the vertically-integrated national company
President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reported about such decision during the meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The Heads of states took participation in XVII Forum of interregional cooperation between the two countries, held on September 30, 2021 in Kokshetau.
The forum discussed important issues related to the management of transboundary water bodies, problems of climate change and decarbonization, protection of flora and fauna. According to the participants of the event, the deteriorative environmental situation requires intensified joint efforts at the international level.
As it was noted by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, considering the neighborhood of Kazakhstan and Russia, many problems, in fact, are common for the two states. To resolve them, the governments signed seven agreements in the field of ecology, biodiversity conservation, joint use and protection of transboundary water bodies. The agreements are systematically being implemented.
The development of the gas industry will be one of the important directions in protecting the environment, the process of transition to carbon neutrality, achieving a zero balance of emissions.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, the use of gas as a cleaner type of fuel deserves special attention. In order to increase the investment attractiveness of the gas industry in Kazakhstan, a number of systemic measures are being taken, new market approaches to gas pricing have been identified. This makes investments in gas projects more profitable.
“We made a decision to transform KazTransGas by analogy with Gazprom”. The company will become a full-fledged vertically integrated national gas company. The timely implementation of large joint projects with Russia “Khvalynskoye” and “Imashevskoye” has a great importance for increase of the gas resource base. It is important to come to an early settlement of commercial issues with Gazprom, which will accelerate the implementation of the above stated projects, – pointed out Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Another promising direction for the production of alternative energy is a nuclear and hydrogen energy, the President of Kazakhstan believes. These days the government is studying the possibilities of developing safe nuclear energy in Kazakhstan and launching a completely new type of energy – hydrogen energy.
