National gas and gas supply operator JSC “KazTransGas” summed up the results of the group of companies for the first half of 2019.
According to Kairat Sharipbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC “KazMunayGas”, successful activities of the group of companies of JSC “KazTransGas” became possible thanks to the support of JSC “Samruk-Kazyna” and JSC NC “KazMunayGas”. “The head companies supported and financed the initiatives of the national Operator to increase the technical capacity of the country’s gas transportation system, diversify and create new transit routes for commercial gas. A fully modernized, high-tech domestic gas transportation system is able not only to diversify gas transit flows, but also to increase their volumes, while fully meeting the domestic needs of the country,” Kairat Sharipbayev said.
According to the operational data, the consolidated income amounted to more than 1 trillion KZT. The net profit of the National operator amounted to 170.2 billion KZT, which is higher than last year by 100 billion KZT or 140%.
At the same time, losses on trade operations in the domestic market amounted to 62.6 billion KZT. The national operator sells gas to domestic consumers below cost, compensating for costs due to gas exports.
KazTransGas JSC is the largest taxpayer in the country. Only during the reporting period, taxes and other payments to the budget in the amount of more than 56 billion tenge were paid.
The volume of gas sales for the first half of this year amounted to 11.6 billion cubic meters, including the volume of gas sales to the domestic market amounted to 7.3 billion cubic meters, for export 4.3 billion cubic meters.
According to Kairat Sharipbayev, due to the constant growth of natural gas consumption by the population and industry, as well as the need to maintain the volume of gas exports (about 10 billion m3 per year) to cover losses from the domestic market (about 120 billion KZT per year), it is necessary to increase the resource base of natural gas of the country.
To date, the national operator JSC “KazTransGas” operates more than 19 thousand km of main gas pipelines with an annual capacity of up to 224 billion cubic meters and gas distribution networks with a length of more than 47 thousand km and is the most important and technologically the most powerful operator of gas flows in Central Asia.
