THE GAS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF KAZAKHSTAN IS RECOGNIZED AS THE BEST IN CENTRAL ASIA.

In particular, the article says that today two of the three longest main gas pipelines in the world pass through the territory of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. This is the gas pipeline “Turkmenistan – China” with a length of 7 thousand kilometers and the gas pipeline “Central Asia – Center” with a length of 5 thousand kilometers. For comparison, the longest global gas transportation route is considered to be the Chinese gas pipeline “West-East”. Its length is 8,704 kilometers.

With the collapse of the USSR, a new geopolitical reality emerged in the Central Asian Region (CAR). This was predictable, since the big geopolitical game almost always begins where there are large reserves of energy and transport infrastructure to them. The CAR has two key main gas pipelines, which are also among the three longest gas pipelines in the world.

If we judge the dynamics of the development of gas transport infrastructure in the Central Asian region, the most appropriate indicators are the length of the main gas pipelines, their technical condition, capacity, innovation in the gas pumping unit, as well as ways of diversification.

The total length of Kazakhstan’s main gas pipelines is more than 19 thousand kilometers, where 56 compressor stations operate, 316 gas pumping units are installed. And if the neighbors in the region, for the most part, have a gas infrastructure, remaining “inherited” and undergoing periodically only cosmetic repairs, in Kazakhstan the gas industry has undergone almost a complete “upgrade”. At the same time, the entire infrastructure under construction is equipped with the most high-tech equipment designed to increase the gas transportation potential for many years to come.

Kazakhstan, providing the most important transport corridor “Kazakhstan-China”, took maximum advantage of its transit potential through the construction of modern compressor stations, gas pumping units of the latest generation and the introduction of other new technologies. This allowed to get the maximum benefit for the country and to improve the entire gas infrastructure. Only last year, the Kazakh gas operator KazTransGas JSC put into operation the linear part of the third line and new compressor stations on this gas pipeline route.

According to international experts, the gas transportation system of Kazakhstan is in excellent condition and is able to pass up to 85 billion cubic meters of gas, with the prospect of increasing the volume of pumping to 120 billion cubic meters per year.

The comparative analysis made in the material shows that from all the countries of the region in recent years, projects of diversification, construction and introduction of new technologies in the gas transportation sector in Kazakhstan are being implemented more successfully. If just a few years ago, Uzbekistan was the leader in the length of the main gas pipelines, today this place was confidently taken by the Kazakh national gas operator. It was possible to make a breakthrough in this area thanks to the strategic management of KazTransGas JSC. Just last year, the company put into operation the thread “C” of main gas pipeline “Kazakhstan-China” and the Beineu-Bozoi section of “Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent” gas pipeline.

The expansion of gas transportation potential in Central Asia, as an important economic component, is becoming one of the priorities. Based on the principles of multi-vector supply of hydrocarbons to domestic and foreign markets, the Republic of Kazakhstan seeks to develop all cost-effective routes for transit and export of commercial gas. At the same time, it remains important for the country to maintain a coordinated energy policy with neighboring countries, as transit and export routes pass through their territories.
