The President enacted the bill on the issues of gas and gas supply

As reported by the President’s Press Service, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev enacted the bill “On introduction of amendments and supplements to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of subsoil use, gas and gas supply”. The enactment will allow to implement the main activities for expansion of using the natural gas and new projects in the sphere of electrical energy, connected with construction of mobile capacities in the regions experiencing power shortages. The law provides the national operator with functions on prospecting and production of hydrocarbons at gas and gas condensate fields. The document will grant the possibility to approve prices for gas for investment projects, using gas for oil and gas products manufacture. Increase of gas consumption and expansion of its application, as well as necessity for subsequent development of gas sector meets the strategic goals of ensuring Kazakhstan energy security. Also, the amendments on clarification of concepts “wholesale trade”, “industrial consumer – investor”, “consumer”, “petrochemical products” have been introduced to the law. The amendments touched the issue of vesting to the authorized body the competences for development and approval of the rules on development of the list of investment projects for petrochemical products manufacture.
