Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Today a solemn meeting dedicated to the significant event – the 50th anniversary of the commissioning of the Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline was held in Atyrau.
The event was attended by Salimzhan Nakpayev, Deputy Akim of Atyrau oblast; Ibulla Serdi, Senior vice president on transportation and storage of gas of the KazMunayGas NC JSC; Mukhatai Shanbatyrov, First Deputy General Director of the Intergas Central Asia JSC; Renat Yangurazov, Representative of the Gasprom OJSC. The event was also attended by guests from the near abroad, workers of the main gas transportation system and veterans of the gas industry.
Construction of the third longest gas transportation system in the world – Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline has become an important stage in the origin and development of the gas industry in Kazakhstan. The mainline continues to play a crucial role in the domestic economy, as it transits significant volumes of Central Asian gas, as well as natural gas, both for the domestic consumers of the republic, and for export. Gas pipeline passes through the territory of four states: Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
Full operation and technical maintenance of the main gas pipeline are carried out by the Intergas Central Asia JSC, included into the composition of the KazTransGas JSC. Directly at the site, there are seven branches-administrations of the main gas pipelines and branch – Engineering and Technical Center.
In 1985, Central Asia-Center was a multi-line system of main gas pipelines and branch gas pipelines with annual capacity of 80 billion cubic meters. In 2007, luping SAC-4 was built, in 2008 – the Opornaya compressor station, in 2013 – Makat station. In 2014, reverse units were constructed at the Dzhangala, Makat, Opornaya and Beyneu stations for pumping of gas to the southern regions of Kazakhstan and for export to China. In the same year, a jumper was constructed between luping SAC-4 and Soyuz Main Gas Pipeline. Currently, largest fields of the Republic are connected to the Central Asia-Center Gas Pipeline, including Kashagan, Tengizchevroil, Shogyrly and Shomyshty.
Ibulla Serdi, Senior vice president on transportation and storage of gas of the KazMunayGas NC JSC in his speech at the meeting congratulated the attendees and noted the importance of the Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline: Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline takes a special place in the gas industry of Kazakhstan. It is necessary to note that today it is in excellent technical condition, thanks to the work of the gas operators of the National operator – KazTransGas. This unique gas pipeline and its capacities, technical characteristics allow not only to supply the southern regions of Kazakhstan with blue fuel, but also to export gas to Russia, further to Europe and even to China.
This gas pipeline gave rise to many glorious labor dynasties of gas workers. Today, you can meet the children of those who were at the source of the construction and beginning of the operation of the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline, those who invested their labor and their forces back in the 60s of the last century; and they bear their watch with dignity, bear the banner of those selfless pioneers. Many of today’s top managers, leading engineers and technical directors working in the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries, once passed a “school” and gained an indispensable experience working at the Central Asia-Center Main Gas Pipeline; and many technologies, first introduced and tested at this main gas pipeline, are still used in the gas transportation sector.
Speakers during the solemn meeting, Kazakhstan gas workers, invited experts noted that the gas transport system of Kazakhstan today is one of the most modern infrastructures in the Eurasian region.
As of today, most modern equipment is applied everywhere, all processes are improved. All this were achieved thanks to the well-coordinated work of the National Operator in the field of Gas and Gas supply – KazTransGas JSC.
