Another compressor station has started the operation on the Line "C" of Kazakhstan-China Gas pipeline.

Immediately in advance of the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NC KazMunayGas JSC has commissioned a new compressor station No.1 (SCS-1) on the Line “C” of Kazakhstan-China Gas Pipeline. The facility is located near Baspandy settlement of Shardarinsky region of the South Kazakhstan oblast and is one of 8 (eight) planned gas pipeline stations.

Construction and further operation of the Investment Project was realized by a joint subsidiary of KazTransGas JSC and Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Co. Ltd –    Asia Gas Pipeline LLP. The new facility of the gas infrastructure will increase the throughput capacity of the Line “C” of the gas pipeline and increase the volume of gas transportation up to 25 bln.  m3 per year, while ensuring the maximum reliability of the uninterrupted transportation process in the mode of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

SCS-1 is the part of the Central Asia-China Transnational Project, a gigantic by length and throughput capacity of the gas artery, which connects four states – Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China.

The new compressor station is equipped with the most modern equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers. Gas turbine units of Rolls Royce company are installed. The design throughput capacity of SCS-1 is 516,749 m3 of gas per hour.

The innovative equipment used as well as a set of auxiliary systems, will be able to ensure safe and technologically uninterrupted gas transportation during the whole period of operation of the main gas pipeline. In the future, the new compressor station with the expansion of SCS-1 can increase the volume of gas transit, if necessary. For this, according to technological parameters, additional connection of the compressor station to the Line “D” is provided.

As Mr. Kairat Sharipbayev, Executive Vice-President for gas transportation and marketing of NC KazMunayGas JSC has noted that the new facility of gas infrastructure expands the transit opportunities of Kazakhstan. “Commissioning of another powerful compressor station on Kazakhstan-China Gas Pipeline is another step in improving the Kazakhstan’s gas transportation system, said Kairat Sharipbayev. – In general, as of today, the country’s gas industry has been almost completely revamped and equipped with the most modern equipment. With the commissioning of the facility, Kazakhstan was able to double the eastern transit of gas, at that, ahead of all schedules, having fulfilled the instruction of the Head of State on developing the transit potential of the country and increasing transit traffic twice up to 2020”.
